Red flags

  • Diarrhoea + fever + abdominal pain after antibiotics - C. difficile / pseudomembranous colitis
  • Bloody diarrhoea with drug exposure (mycophenolate, NSAIDs, ICI colitis)
  • Severe dehydration, haemodynamic compromise
  • Diarrhoea in a patient on an immune checkpoint inhibitor - possible colitis, can be severe/life-threatening
