Framing
- A cluster of time-critical complications, predominantly arising from malignancy or its treatment, sharing the need for rapid recognition and immediate intervention to prevent irreversible harm (sepsis death, cord compression paralysis, cardiac arrhythmia from electrolyte derangement)
- Each emergency has a distinct trigger and mechanism, but all require a low threshold for suspicion in a patient with known or suspected malignancy presenting acutely unwell
