What the panel measures
- A misnomer - most of the panel measures injury or cholestasis, not function
- Injury markers: ALT, AST
- Cholestasis markers: ALP, GGT, (conjugated bilirubin)
- True synthetic function: albumin, total protein, prothrombin time/INR
- Plus bilirubin as an excretory marker; these three are what the prognostic scores use
