- LAST - systemic toxicity from local anaesthetic (LA) entering the circulation, typically after a regional/nerve block (accidental intravascular injection or absorption from a highly vascular site)
- Affects CNS first at lower plasma levels, then the cardiovascular system at higher levels - though cardiac collapse can occur first, especially with bupivacaine
